The Grayslake Fire Protection District was created in 1976. At that time, the Lake County Board appointed a Board of Trustees to oversee the procurement and disbursement of funds for the Fire Protection District. The Trustees serve a three (3) year term. The Trustees are also responsible for the adoption of Fire Protection District Resolutions, Ordinances and Policies. The Board meets the second Wednesday of each month at 9:00 a.m. at the Grayslake Fire Station. Trustees must be a resident of the Fire Protection District. Lester Stang has served on the Board since the inception of the Fire Protection District. Ellen Dimock has served since 1999 and Dick Navarre began his term in 2001.

The Grayslake Fire Protection District meeting is held the third Wednesday of every month at Grayslake Fire Station #2, 1200 Brae Loch Road in Grayslake.
